Conceal Handgun Carry Course (CCW)

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety mandates that any person who carries a
concealed firearm first attend an approved CCW course by a DPS approved instructor.
Course requirements are 15 hours in length and include both classroom and range
instruction. This is typically a 2 day course but can be broken down to evenings with one
range day.
Students must be at least 21 years of age.
Our course of instruction is designed to help develop your confidence, skills and knowledge
presented by instructors with extensive backgrounds in training, law enforcement, and
firearms.
Classroom instruction includes discussion on:
  • Safe Handgun Shooting Fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Safe Handling of Single & Double Action Revolvers
  • Knowledge of Safe Handling of Semi-Automatic Handguns
  • Safe Storage of Handguns and Child Safety
  • Basics of Cleaning a Handgun
  • Identification of Ways to Develop and Maintain Handgun Shooting Skills
  • Federal, State and Local Criminal and Civil laws
  • Case Law
  • Terms and Condition of License
  • Blood Lead Issues
  • Techniques for Avoiding a Criminal Attack and How to Control a Violent Confrontation
  • Techniques for a Non Violent Dispute Resolution

What you will need to bring to the range:
  • Eye Protection (safety glasses or prescription glasses are acceptable)

  • Firearm with Holster or Gun Case (must be .32 caliber or larger)
  • A Minimum of 3 Boxes of Ammunition for your Firearm
There will be a one hour lunch break on day one from the classroom. On day two, we
recommend you bring a lunch as we will be at the range. We will take a one hour lunch
break. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather. You may wish to bring water, sun
screen, hat, and a chair to sit on during breaks.

2 year Refresher Course (CCW)

4 year Refresher Course (CCW)

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety mandates that any person who has a conceal
carry permit attend an approved 4 year CCW Refresher Course by a DPS approved
instructor.
Course requirements are 2 hours of classroom and 2 hours of range instruction.
The classroom instruction is a condensed version of the basic CCW course. The range
instruction is the same as the two hour refresher course.
ABSOLUTELY NO AMMUNITION IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM.
What you will need to bring to the range:
-Eye Protection (safety glasses or prescription glasses are acceptable)
-Hearing Protection
-Firearm with Holster or Gun Case (must be .32 caliber or larger)
-A Minimum of 2 Boxes of Ammunition for your Firearm
-Your Conceal Carry Permit
Wear appropriate clothing for the weather. You may wish to bring water, sun screen, and a hat.

Refuse To Be A Victim

Information on this course coming soon! This course is designed for women and those who want to learn about safety and not becoming a victim but do not want to use a firearm or would like a course as a first step before deciding on whether or not to have a firearm.

Advanced Handgun Courses

We offer a variety of advanced handgun courses. Most if not all of the instruction is
conducted on the range. The various courses of advanced instruction allow for shooters of
all levels to acquire and maintain shooting skills that go beyond that of the basic courses.
Course requirements are 8 hours of range instruction.
This course of instruction includes a static and reactive range with a variety of paper and
steel targets to enhance the shooters ability, confidence, and skill level.

What you will need to bring to the course:
-Eye Protection (safety glasses or prescription glasses are acceptable)
-Hearing Protection
-Firearm with Holster or Gun Case (must be .32 caliber or larger)
The amount of ammunition you will need for these courses will be determined for each individual course
of instruction. An average of 4 to 5 boxes will be required.
Wear appropriate clothing for the weather. You may wish to bring a lunch, water, sun screen, a chair for break time and a hat.

Advanced Tactical Handgun Courses

We offer a variety of advanced tactical handgun courses. Most if not all of the instruction is
conducted on the range. The various courses of advanced tactical instruction allow for
shooters to acquire and maintain shooting skills that go beyond that of the basic and
advanced courses for the tactical shooter.
Course requirements are 8 hours of range instruction.
This course of instruction incudes a static and reactive range with a variety of paper and
steel targets to enhance the shooters ability, confidence and skill level. These are highly
participative classes that include movement and varying degrees of shooting platforms and
motion by the shooters.

Basic Personal Protection in the Home

We offer several NRA certified courses of instruction. This course is designed to develop in
the students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use
of a firearm for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding
citizen's right to self defense.
Course requirements are 8 hours of instruction. 5 hours of instruction are in the classroom
with 3 hours of range instruction.
Classroom instruction includes discussion on:
-Introduction to Defensive Shooting
-Firearms and the Law
-Strategies For Home Safety and Responding to a Violent Confrontation
-Selecting a Pistol for Self Defense
-Sport Shooting Activities and Training Opportunities
Range instruction includes discussion and hands on experience with:

Home Firearm Safety

We offer a Home Firearm Safety Course through the NRA. This course is designed to teach
the basic knowledge and skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for safe handling and
storage of guns in the home.
Course requirements are 4 hours of instruction. This can be accomplished through
classroom instruction depending on the number of students or it can be a specialized course
in your home. For in the home courses, contact us for additional information.
Instruction includes discussion on:
-Rules for Safe Gun Handling
-Identifying and Unloading Different Firearms
-Practical Exercise in Safe Gun Handling
-Types of Ammunition; Cleaning and Storage of Firearms

Basic Pistol Shooting Course

We offer several NRA certified courses of instruction. This course introduces students to the
knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this
course the students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety,
pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Pistol Course will
also help prepare the student for participation in other courses.
Course requirements are 8 hours of instruction. 6 hours of instruction are in the classroom
with 2 hours of range instruction.
Instruction includes discussion on:
-Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling
-Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting
-Firing the First Shots
-Scoring Targets, and Selecting and Maintaining Your Pistol
-Continued Opportunities for Skill Development

First Steps Pistol Orientation

We offer several NRA certified courses of instruction. This course is designed to provide
beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to
own and use a specific pistol model safely.
Course requirements are 4 hours of instruction. Some of this instruction may be done in a
classroom setting or provided while on the range.
Range instruction includes discussion and hands on experience with:
-Safety Briefing
-Range Rules
-Introduction to Pistol Shooting from the Benchrest Position
-Introduction to Pistol Shooting from the Standing Position
Classroom instruction includes discussion on:
-Introduction to Pistol Safety, Parts, and Operation
-Introduction to Ammunition and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting
-Introduction to Pistol Cleaning, Storage, and Training
